Title

The Birth of the Castle

Diary Excerpt from the Mage Juine
I told them, no, I pleaded with them not to ask for a king, but they wanted one. And I can not turn my back on them. They are who I serve, so I have set up a new kingdom. I even built them a castle. I wish I did not have to do this, but I will. As soon as the new king is ready, I shall step aside for him to take my place.

The History of the Castle
Many people have argued that Juine only wished to stay in power. However, there is substantial evidence that would make one think that she had other reasons to not want a king. For instance, the king rules over the people and makes choices, while the mages simply served. Also argued was the fact that Juine and the other mages hardly ever decided to completely change the forest, they were told to do it, and thusforth obeyed.

The Mage Years
The mage years began at 1 M.L., 1 of the Lunar, and continued until 90 M.L., 8 of the Rathe. The short lived form of government is considered crude by many, but also held a good many things to it. The mages were a council; a group of either fourteen or sixteen mages. Each was sent to a different area to tend to and met every Lunar to exchange information. Throughout the years, many died, and a total of 43 mages were in the Mage Counsil. However, their reign ended when the monarchy and castle were built by Juine.
