You stop her when you ask what her job is, and she turns slowly to see you as if she's never been asked before. Before she can answer, however, a streak of red runs into the room, making you jump.
A faint smile plays at her lips now. "Do not worry, that is only Usalah, my hippogryph. She's very playful, but not harmful. Well, at least not intentionally so..." She sees how worried you look by this, and she shakes her head. "Usalah, meet our visitor, a wanderor."
Usalah rears up and does almost a dance, if that's what you could call it. When she settles back down, Dangarrod sits and offers you a seat as well.
"I have a very special job, although there are some who scorn it. If you go into the Wisdom, you will find a number of my books." She smiles. "I multiply animals, so that they may become abundant."
You look at Usalah, questioningly.
"Oh no, not her," she says. "No, Usalah came to the Wood for a home. These other creatures want to be adopted." She smiles.
"So if I want to adopt them...?" you begin to ask.
"Well, you'll have to find them first. They've been hidden all around the Wood. My books will tell you what species there are, what colors they have, and other things like that. The common colors can be found in groups, while the rare colors must be earned through quests and such." She smiles more broadly, seeing your interest.
She leans forward and whispers, "Each of these creatures also comes with an award that you win, even if you don't want to adopt them. I alone possess the book that will tell you about the awards. Would you like to see it?"
