"Oh good, you're finally here," says a strong male voice. You see a white drigus with a blue mane, walking towards you slowly.
"My name is Volrath, and, yes I already know who you are." He points his nose to the mountains, which are only a few feet away. "I shall be leading you out of the desert to the mountains and leaving you there. By yourself, you'll never make it, because there are traps set at the edge of the desert."
"But, why?" you ask.
He shrugs. "Creatures looking for a meal? Mages trying to ensnare victims? Magic trying to protect the mountains? I have no idea, but you'll need to follow me up the mountains. All right?"
"Yes, all right," you say.
