You enter into the residential quarters, wondering who or what would live here. Maybe only elves are allowed to work here? But, that doesn't make any sense. You immediately see three creatures when you enter, although only a small blue one lands on a post near you.
"Who are you, and why are you here?" he asks.
Perhaps that's why the other two won't come near you. You explain what you're doing and then ask him his name.
"I am Riccnok, and I am a scout," he says.
The two others come out from hiding when he announces his job. They seem much more keen on talking to you now. Riccnok nods at them and they fly over, fluttering next to him.
"So not just elves work for this fortress?" you inquire.
The two smaller creatures laugh shrilly before the blue one replies, "Of course. Elves are like humans; they cannot fly without a steed. What good would a scout be if they couldn't fly?" She smiles.
The green one picks up where she left off. "You see, there just aren't enough elves to run this place, let alone protect it. The elves built it, they run it, and sometimes they'll even use magic to protect it. But in the end, they can't do it without the help of the other species."
Riccnok says, "And what fun would it be if just the elves were here?" They all laugh again. "Well, anyway, feel free to visit the others. Glimmers and Glimmet here are just about to go on duty, and I'm going to get something to eat. Have fun, wanderor."
