You knock on the door. It swings open inwardly, allowing you to enter. You find that the entire house is completely dark. You say, "Hello?" cautiously before stepping over the threshold.
A female voice says, "Please come in and shut the door. I will not harm you, but I am not fond of light."
Still feeling a bit uneasy, you step inside and shut the door. A small torch is lit, just enough to light up the beginnings of the house. You see that, among some furniture that you cannot make out, a golden canine face is looking at you.
"You may call me Miera," she says. "I do not like the dark, and, generally, I prefer not to leave the house until sundown. It's much fun after dark, though, I promise you that."
You hasitly introduce yourself, and she smiles. "I figured you had to be a wanderor. People generally don't go around to visit the houses; most new people just wait until there is a meeting or some such, when they can meet everyone at once."
You give her a confused look, and to your surprise, she smiles again. "Town meetings with the Queen," she says, "are the reason most people move in here. The King of the Castle of the Wood let us have a Queen. Really, he doesn't need to help us much, and we like the ability of having a responisble ruler who is close at hand."
