You give the green door a knock with your first, and you hear a bit of rustling just beyond the door. In a few moments, the door opens, and a young woman is before you. She doesn't have any wings, though, so she's obviously not a fairy.
"Hello," she says, beckoning for you to come inside. "My name is Exxire. Welcome to my home."
The inside of the house is covered with green velvet furniture, making it seem oddly like the outdoors. There is a fire burning merrily, and you see two creatures running around inside.
Exxire smiles. "Most people on this island have pets or creatures they protect. A lot of creatures who lack sentience or language capabilities will often seek the care of someone who does. I was very luck that I ran into these two, for they looked very alone when I found them."
She walks over to the larger of the two, which is black with red, white, and black speckles all over it. He seems rather playful, for he bats at Exxire's hand when she pats him. "This here is Zaand. He used to live elsewhere in the Wood before it shifted. Luckily, I found him, because he doesn't like the new Wood and likes the Island."
She turns to you. "I am sure you've probably found some creatures within the Wood who either chose not to talk or cannot talk. Zaand here cannot communicate with words, although he can tell me most things rather easily." She gives a broad smile. "Which brings me to..."
You turn to face her other pet, which turns out to be a skunk. "...Zurior." She jumps up and down, runs around between you and Exxire, and then pounces on top of Zaand. This, however, is a mistake, as Zaand begins to fight her, although playfully.
As they run off, Exxire turns to you. "I wish I could tell you more, but I have only recently come here. I hear, however, that both of our next-door neighbors have been here a while, and that they've both been in the Queen's confidence!"
