The Looming Layer

Condroth the Blue

As you pass through the tunnel, you find yourself adjusting your eyes to a particularly low level of light. The torches - or lamps, or whatever it was that was lighting the passage before - have diminished by quite a lot. All of a sudden, a snap and a growl tending towards a roar makes you take cover behinda judding out wall. You peek out from behind the wall to see a medium-sized blue dragon.

"Condroth! Stop it!" comes a deep, oddly calm male voice. "I was told a wanderer has come to visit, and you don't even know who that was!" He pauses. "Sorry about that, there, visitor. You can come out, if you want."

After a few minutes, you step out from behind the bracing wall, and you see a hansome man. He has olive skin and dark, almost-black hair and eyes. He does seem very calm, but he also seems very short, perhaps just over five feet tall. He looks to be in his early twenties. Condroth, the blue dragon, seems to have calmed down at least.

"Greetings, I'm Dol'nn, rider and bondmate of Condroth," the man says. "Sorry, Condroth likes to scare the other residents as a joke. We don't like the light that much, so we have a darkened section of the layr. I would invite you in, but our layr is actually quite dark, and I doubt you'll be able to see."

Meanwhile, Condroth paces into a dark opening. Dol'nn watches him and says, "Condroth wants you to see his scrapbook. Do you mind?" When you say that you don't mind, he runs in and grabs a rather pristine book.
