As you pass into the meadow, the mountains rise up on your right. It's quite pretty. You also notice that some area are highly populated with equine and other large animals, but other areas have smaller creatures that are hard to see when you pass.
You start to think that the entire meadow is populated with small, rather energenic bunnies. However, you've seen two rainbow darts running around, and you realize that the likelihood of there being tons of rainbow bunnies is slim. You stop, looking around to see if you can get a better glimpse of them.
"I told you," drawls a male voice, "Tairque! Enton! You can't play anymore! You mess everything up!"
You look around, finally spotting a blue bunny with large antlers.
"You're the one who stopped!" taunts a female voice back.
But the blue creature simply looks at you. Shortly, he is joined by two others, both a brilliant rainbow colored.
"I'm Tairque," says the female voice from before, from one of the rainbow-coated creatures. "And we're Jackalope, not very common, not even in the wood." She puffs herself up. "And, before good Chrount over there," she glares at the blue one, "we were having a rather fun game."
"Yes," says the other rainbow. "I'm Enton by the way. Anyway, we're fast runners, you see, and getting wanderers confused is a specialty of ours. A bit hard, given the mountains -- people can generally mark where they are because of them -- but still it works sometimes."
You introduce yourself, not sure if you like these playful jackalope or if you should leave soon. They seem rather interested.
Two more join you. The first is a shiny yellow and the second is a bright green. They seem a bit ruffled, perhaps because the game ended before they wanted it to.
"Hello," grunts a male voice as the yellow jackalope heads over to sit with the blue, "I'm Emdan... welcome to the meadow." He turns and whispers something to Chrount, who replies, "Look, I'm not the one who told them to come! And the wanderer had stopped!"
It does indeed appear that the game is the problem.
The green jackalope, however, stares intently at you. "I'm Sulnale, nice to meet you. Sorry about the game--it's a fun trick. Don't worry, no one has gotten lost before, really. It's just a bit boring out here sometimes. Our antlers prevent us from living in places like the jungle, where we can hide and pop out at people, you know?"
After she finishes speaking, the other jackalope hop away, and she slowly turns and leaves you alone.
