Island of the Rising Star

The Star Speckled Kennels

Knight of the Heart

Vorend gulps and walks more slowly as you walk past more doors. She says, "I should warn you before we get there. We're approaching the Royal Mutts. They're not so fond of me or visitors..."

She stops talking, but before long a male voice shouts, "Halt! Who goes there."

Vorend rolls her eyes and says, "It's me Knight-Heart, with a wanderor."

"Suspicious!" he cries.

Queen

A powerful female voice says, "Stand down now."

Your eyes fall upon a pink mutt who obviously is rather spoiled. Knight-Heart falls silent upon her command, and she smiles as if she dared him to keep yelling. Her eyes fall upon you, and she doesn't look like she likes what she sees.

Vorend introduces you and explains your visit. "This is Queen, and that's King, there, with the cape. And over there is Princie, one of their daughters."

King

The caped mutt, who seems rather aloof, gives you a quick nod and a woof to say hello. Queen, however, doesn't seem convinced that you're a good guest. She eyes Vorend and then starts to ask questions.

"So..." she begins, "You're telling me that the Queen of the Island is letting a wanderor just walk around her Island and Palace, without any inspection? How do we know you can be trusted?"

King nods his head, as if to approve of the question. Vorend straightens up. "Just as you aren't quite fond of me, but the Queen is, it is the same for this wanderor. Who said this one wasn't inspected, eh?"

Princie

Princie, who had for the most part remained hidden in the shadow of her mother, steps forward and smiles. "I thought so. You've probably been tailed by fairies all over this island." She gives you a smile, but you're not sure if you should return it.

The King sits next to his mate, looking over at her questioningly. "Knight-Heart, please shut the door and escort the visitors out if they need to be," says Queen, rather tight-lipped.

"Good-bye," says Princie and King together.
