Title

The Jaded Jungle

Adwestix

You take the left fork, wanting to see the meadows. It's only a matter of time before you run into another centaur. The path is thin and windy, and it doesn't seem to be very easy to maneuver around others. This centaur, however, is a bit shorter than the others you have seen. As you approach, he stops and looks you over.

Hitching a friendly smile, he approaches you. "Hello, travelor," he says. "I am Adwestix. I am glad to meet your aquaintence." He inclines his head.

You briefly introduce yourself, but take time in explaining how you got here.

"Yes, I see you're headed for the meadows, huh?" he says. "Good choice. They're lovely for a nice gallop."

"You see," he continues, "the jungle is a great place to live. But this path isn't great for a long, hard run, now is it?" He shakes out his shoulders. "Pardon me," he steps aside, as if to let you by. "I am waiting for someone. I'm sure he'd like to meet you, but if you're in a rush..."

"Oh, no!" you reply, looking for the other centaur.

Mirerix

After a few minutes, wherein Adwestix relates to you the thrill of running through the fields, you hear the clip-clop of a steady, pacing centaur. Adwestix turns and says, "There you are! Come here for a second, there is someone I want you to meet!"

A shockingly blue centaur comes into view, but that is nothing compared to the shock on his face. He doesn't seem to meet strangers very often.

"Mirerix, this is the wanderer that people have been talking about!" says Adwestix. "And, wanderer, please meet my friend, Mirerix."

Mirerix nods his head, but he doesn't take his eyes off of you. He doesn't seem to be as trusting as Adwestix, nor does he seem at all happy to see you. After a very long, awkward pause, he makes to walk ahead, but Adwestix stops him.

"You're not going to say hello?" he says.

Mirerix peers over at you. "Hello, wanderer," he glares back at his friend. "Let's go, we're wasting time."

And they step past you, leaving you on the path.
