The heat here is muggy and damp, yet there is an abundance of life. Birds and insects (none of which you can see) chirp, sing, and flitter around you. You feel a bit safer, knowing that there are other creatures around.
"Halt, and tell me who you are," a voice demands.
A bit taken aback, both by its suddenness and its rudeness, you hesitate before you introduce yourself. "Who are you?" you ask, seeing no one reveal him or herself.
As soon as the creature steps out behind the trees, you feel as if you shouldn't have asked. A large creature with blood red hooves and claws, black fur, and multicolored eyes leers at you as she steps gracefully from behind a tree. You almost back away, but this creature would surely catch you.
"I," she begins, stepping toward you, "am Tesur. I am one of the many Leagi who reside within this Rainforest."
She points at a pathway, the one you've been following since you've entered. "I shall be the one to warn you, if you have not heard all already, to not wander far from this path. It is not dangerous in here; very few will even threaten you. However, there is no guarantee of your protection if you step off of the pathway. So if you hear about anyone who lives off of it, and you want to visit that person, you're taking your life into your own hands."
You gulp at this pronouncement, not wanting to have anything to do with death.
She gives you a little bow and says, "You will probably meet more of my kin a further way in. My daughter is here, too," she smiles. "Oh and if you follow me, you can come to my off-site Pri~erd." As she walks away from the path, you wonder if her daughter is as scary as she is.
