The path drops as you do down a hill, making it hard to walk. Stones appear, making you wonder how they got there. As you walk, a light ahead makes you walk a bit faster. Someone must have a fire, and, although it is already hot, you're still looking to meet more creatures in this wood.
When you get there, however, the fire is not anything like you expected it to be. Some strange creature is holding it mid-air, almost as a weapon. When she sees you, she says, "Step into the light, now."
With a gulp, you do as she says. Her face relaxes and she sits back on her haunches, still not extinguishing her fire. "I see you are good wanderor, and not someone looking for trouble."
"How can you tell that?" you ask.
Before she can answer, another creature approaches, although this one is much less sinister than her fellow. She looks at you and says, "Equeu was making sure you weren't Fri-on or his apprentice."
"Which is what I was about to say," Equeu snaps. "This is Mordyni, one of those who I protect."
You look around, expecting to see hordes of additional creatures to enter into your vision, but none do. "I am the only one with her today," Mordyni says quietly. "But there are others down the path, we were just talking to them." She smiles.
Equeu shakes her head and says, "Go on, wanderor, we're going as well." And they leave.
